01/25/2008: Town To Re-vote On Building Code Law
A procedural error in not having mailed the draft law to Board members 7 days in advance will necessitate a
re-vote at the February 20th Town Board Meeting.

01/16/2008: Acting Assessor Selected
The Board has endorsed the hiring of Dan Martonis as the acting assessor conditionally upon his signing a
performance
employment contract.  He began his new role January 21st.
01/16/2008: HELP FOUND: Planning Board Candidate
Charlene Van Dusen has come forward to enter her name as the candidate to be the 7th member of the
Planning Board.  She will be interviewed by the Planning Board Chair, Bill Sponsler, as well as various Town
Board members.  If all goes well, she will be appointed and sworn in on February 20th.
01/03/2008: Ever Thought About Being An Assessor?
Soon we will be recruiting for a high energy, personable, intelligent individual who wants to assess properties fairly
and equitably in a manner which ends with the majority of people in the community feeling that the assessment
they received was representative of market value. The position has an appointed term which will expire on
September 30, 2013.  Contact any town board member if you are interested in being considered for this position.
01/16/2008: HELP FOUND:  4 Board of Assessment Review Candidates
Mike Batt, Gary Van Dusen, Liz Augostini, and Kirk Austin have asked that each be seriously considered as
candidates to be on the Board of Assessment Review.  Interviews by the Town Board members will occur over
the next few weeks.  Appointment and swearing in will happen on February 20th if the interviews go well.
The Town of Portville has approved a resolution to adopt New York State law which provides for defense and
indemnification of its employees, appointees and elected officials.
The Town Board voted to enter into an intermunicipality agreement for Portville to provide kennel services
to the Town of Allegany.
01/16/2008: Village Police Services For PCS
The Town Board voted to conditionally approve the cooperative agreement between the Town of Portville, Village
of Portville, and Portville Central School District to obtain Village police services for the PCS campus as long as
the Town bears no costs or obligation of payment.  To view the draft that was discussed on the 16th,

01/16/2008: 911 Number Assignment Moves From Portville Fire District To Town
The Town Board has agreed with the Portville Fire District's request to transfer responsibility to the Town of
Portville's code enforcement officer for the designation of 911 sign numbers.

Office hours are 6:00PM-8:00PM Tuesday January 29th.  Earlier and longer hours will be begin in February.

01/16/2008: Seybert Sign Approved
At the recommendation of Bill Sponsler, chair of the Planning Board, the Town Board approved the
Seybert Sign Application.
01/16/2008: County Designates $2+ Million For Haskell Road Improvement
Mike O'Brien, Deputy Chair of the Cattaraugus County Legislature announced at the Portville Town Board
Meeting on the 16th that the County has earmarked $2+ million to improve the road conditions of The Haskell.  
This represents more than 50% of the overall Cattaraugus County road improvements budget according to
Legislator O'Brien.  The Town Board expressed their sincere appreciation to the Cattaraugus Legislature for this
long needed assistance.
01/16/2008: $20K Sluice Pipe For Windfall Approved
At the recommendation of Stuart Frost, Highway Superintendent, a new $20,000 80-foot sluice pipe was
authorized by the Town Board for purchase and installation on the Windfall.  More details will be provided once
the pipe is delivered and being readied for installation.
01/16/2008: $98K Hwy Agreement Approved
The Town Board approved the 2008 "284 Agreement" proposed by Stuart Frost, Highway Superintendent, which
designates $98,000 for road improvements on 38.92 miles of Portville road.
01/20/2008: Town Board Meetings To Westons Mills For Remainder of 2008
Because of the larger number of people attending Town Board Meetings, the Town Board has decided to make
Westons Mills Community Center its permanent venue.
01/22/2008: 2007 Financial Report Issued To Comptroller
The annual financial report for 2007 was completed on 01/22/2008 and issued to the New York State Comptroller.

02/02/2008: Intermunicipality Agreement With  Allegany For Kennel Services Signed
The town supervisors of Allegany and Portville have signed the intermunicipality agreement to allow Allegany
to use Portville's kennels at specified rates.
02/02/2008: $98K Hwy Agreement Countersigned
